Monster Mash

We have had a busy couple of weeks!! Sarah Beth is 15 months old so first and foremost, her new "vitals." She weighs 21 lb and is 32 inches long. She is doing very well. She has too many teeth to count and is cutting some molars so as you can imagine this has been a happy household! She is officially off a bottle as of this past weekend and we are working on cutting it down to 1 nap a day. This is going to be a work in progress I can tell! Time seems to just fly by!! She can now also say nite nite, boo (book), joo (juice) and bye bye with a wave. She has gotten good at blowing kisses which is great because she doesn't give out kisses too much. She has just learned her prayer hands but will only do them at night during prayer time. She runs and climbs and hides ALL the time. Her favorite game is chase so Dutch and I are up ALL the time with her now. The 3 of us play chase almost every night. I would not trade it for the world! She still makes "ugly" (mean) faces at people (including Dutch and I) from time to time and has just started with the occasional tantrum. She has learned to go "wet noodle" on us when we are trying to get her to walk somewhere she doesn't want to. Most recently she did it at the front door of a deli after church because she wasn't ready to leave. When I scooped her up she grinned from ear to ear! Last but not least, this character of a child now thinks when she climbs and I say no that it is a game. She will put one foot up on something wait for me to look and when I say no, she laughs and begins a slow climb laughing the whole way until I end up yanking her off of whatever she is climbing. She also likes to climb into my rocking chair in her room with books and pretend to read in it. 9 times out of 10, she will have the book upside down. This is precious!

Sarah Beth and I went to Tifton 2 weeks ago to visit Mimi and Papa George while Dutch stayed in Watkinsville to work. I had been promising to do this for a while and just got around to it. We had lunch with mom's friends the Doozies and breakfast with Dad's breakfast group. Both of which were at the bakery, (which is amazing if you are ever in Tifton for anything!)We also visited the pumpkin patch at the Agrirama. The above picture is of Sarah Beth playing peek a boo through a pupkin cut out at the patch. We also walked her through the corn maze. She had a ball!!! She could not decide which pumpkin to take home, so naturally Papa George bought both pumpkins she liked! It is amazing how much things change when a grandchild is in the picture!

We came home in time to take Sarah Beth to the fall festival. Grandaddy, Nana and Aunt Manda walked her around while Dutch and I walked around shopping and eating just the two of us. It has been so long since I have had a funnel cake. Dutch and I devoured it. I did give Sarah Beth a tiny bite as well. What is not to love about fried dough and powdered sugar?

We let Sarah Beth eat supper with Grandaddy and Nana this past week as well so Dutch and I could go out on a date. We did not think on a Monday night there would be much and were looking forward to eating in downtown Athens since we hardly ever go anymore. Of course the whole UGA greek system was downtown which led to us eating at Buffalo's on Alp's Rd after an hour of cruising downtown for parking. Dutch and I got a lot of bonding time in the car and laughed about our luck all night.

Grandy spent the day yesterday with Sarah Beth and we made our first pot of chilli for the cold season. We have had lots of grandparents time this past month and we are looking forward to watching Georgia beat Florida from the comfort of our couch this weeekend! Go Dawgs! Halloween pictures to come!!

From the hills of Georgia's northland...

We are well into football season!!! So this will be a catch me up on all the previous football games with an added recipe bonus. September flew by, maybe because all the games were at home for the most part in September. We are finally getting a break. The next home game will not be until November. That being said thanks to the wonderful grandparents I did not miss a game in September. Why? Because Grandy and Mimi was gracious enough to give up a couple of Saturdays to babysit!!!! That being said, Sarah Beth has also had ALOT of grandparent time, which also means alot of detoxing this past month! Mimi gave up the South Carolina game (which we lost of course...) so Dutch and I was able to tailgate for a 3:30 game before all the 12:00 games arrived. South Carolina was a lot of fun!!

We then decided to take Sarah Beth to the Coastal Carolina game! This was not her first tailgate, but was her first game. She was a champ as she always is! She let us stay until halftime, which for a 1 yr old is a feat in itself. We took her down on the field at halftime which she loved. Funny thing, she could care less about the band. All she saw was a massive green patch to run around on. Dutch and I had our hands full keeping her on the sidelines! Dutch and I took her back to the tailgate to leave and she ran around there for a little while as well. You would think she would have slept all afternoon but no, she just powered on through after a 30 minute cat nap in the car. We all really enjoyed it though! She even got to see Aunt Lala and Caroline. She however has started making "ugly" faces at people. Not just people she doesn't know. She even makes them at us if she is mad. Aunt Teensy says it looks like a Dutch face. Either way I now spend most of my time in public apologizing for her faces and making up excuses like "oh she's tired." I am hoping this is a phase. This game was no exception!

Dutch took a father - son trip to the Ole Miss game, which as always he had a ball! Sarah Beth of course came down with a cold / bug about 8 hrs after he left. This left me having to clean her nose and take care of her all day Saturday during the game. Nana, Aunt Manda and Morgan came over to watch the game (Morgan is in college and also washed clothes!) This was a huge help because I was able to watch the game a little bit with a sick baby!

Grandy showed up the next week to babysit for the Miss St. game. Sarah Beth now owns 2 pairs of squeaky shoes which she loves and even wants to wear them around the house. I forgot to warn Grandy about the noise which made Grandy laugh when SB suprised her with the shoes. They had a lot of fun playing while Dutch and I had an adult play date with Will and Bri Shelton. Will is a high school football coach so seeing them in the fall is hard to manage. Luckily, it was his off weekend! They have a little boy born last spring, so this was their first UGA game since he was born! We all had a great time and UGA won that game so that made it even better.

Last weekend was our first weekend relaxing in what seems like months. So we enjoyed a wonderful party Friday night and relaxed on the porch watching the Tenn game Saturday night with Dutch's good friend Adam. We got out the heat lamp Papa George gave Dutch for christmas for the first time and was able to watch the whole game outside!!! Dutch made his "world famous" ribs (courtesy of Grandaddy) and we had a GREAT evening (which included a dance off on the Xbox dance central).

This past week Sarah Beth and I visited Tifton, more details on that in the next blog. Now, we are getting ready for the Oconee County fall festival today and the Vandy game tonight. We are also keeping the nursery for the first time tomorrow. We meaning Dutch and I together, so I am sure there will be a story or two from that as well. I am also attaching a new recipe since it has been a while! This is a hot wing dip which has become a staple at tailgates! Enjoy the football pictures!
