So once again, we have had a big round of storms come our way this week and luckily all is good on our homefront! We did not loose power, phone, water, etc and once again even though it sounded like we were going to be thrown into Oz Sarah Beth slept through the whole thing! It completely blows my mind. She wakes up from a nap at the drop of a hat but sleeps through the worst storms Georgia has seen in a decade (according to Channel 2 Action News). We have all been fighting allergies (more on that later) and it even woke me up from an Nyquil induced sleep. Go figure!
So activities for this week, we have had even more play dates since last week. 2 to be exact. Sarah Beth strolled with Harrison and his mom Monday at the Rec Dept. Harrison's mom, Shelby, and I are in Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary together. She lives in Oconee County as well and is another stay at home mom. Tuesday we went to Memorial Park to feed the ducks and swing with the Harrison boys: Drake, Reed, and Brax. Their dad, Alan, and Dutch work together. Their mom, Kristin is a teacher so we decided since it was Spring Break, it was a great chance to get them ALL together. Kristin and I both forgot the bread for the ducks and the wind was bad from the storm Monday night, so we went decided after swinging a bit, the indoor playground at Chick-fil-a was the best bet. (Of course I forgot the camera for both outing. I WILL get better). I have never had their parfait and I LOVE granola and yogurt so I tried it, it was a pleasant surprise!!! Sarah Beth on the other hand was not interested in any of the fruit I tried to give her. We have been very lucky with her, but eating grownup food is going to be a battle I can tell. She just chews (gums) and then spats it out. Playing Monday and Tuesday was fun!! We will see how her "detox" goes today!
Sarah Beth also went to the UGA-Miss St baseball game Saturday. This is where the picture is from...and the allergies. We all had fun and the won, but Sunday morning SB and I woke up with the worst scratchy throat and runny nose. This has led to Claritin for me and lots of nose cleanings for SB, which she HATES! She now screams anytime she is put on the changing table because she knows what is next. We are feeling much better, but now Dutch's allergies have kicked in. I CANNOT wait for the pollen to go away!!!
Our trip to Home Depot for tomatoes did not happen this weekend, but it will this weekend! My hanging flowers are doing well! Dutch revived them after last weeks fiasco! But on that note, I have noticed several of my friends follow "The Pioneer Woman" blog. I haven't but checked it out today. Oh my have I been missing out. Recipes I grew up on (but can't eat everyday) that are easy and much more. I have to say so far I am a fan! Google it! I highly recommend it.
Last tidbit, Sarah Beth got a toy for Christmas that I have finally set up and it is staring at me at my desk. Why do you ask? It is "my pal Violet." Violet is a purple dog from Leapfrog who has to be plugged into the computer so she can learn SB's name, favorite songs, color, etc (which by the way Sarah Beth is not in her vocab so it is just Sarah). Holy crap! Who would have thought! I never had this kind of stuff as a kid.
SO that is all for this week. I am trying a new crock-pot soup this week and will share the recipe if it is any good!
Much Love, MB
